Random News: Second Trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Hello Lovely Readers,

I had a review all set to go today, then the new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug came out. So I figured I would save the review for tomorrow and share the trailer. I cannot wait for December to see this movie. Although as cool as everything looks, I think we are starting to see some more changes to the original Hobbit plot (although some of it could be from the Appendices by JRR Tolkien, which I have not and will not read). I think as much as I usually am a purest on movies adapted from books, I trust Peter Jackson, and I think it could be an amazing movie. Check out the trailer below.

I have to say I am LOVING Smaug’s voice. They deepened and roughed up Benedict Cumberbatch’s already amazing voice. I am so looking forward to him and Bilbo talking in the treasure room. Also I am excited for more or Legolas’s father, Thranduil (played by Lee Pace, who we only really glimpsed in the first movie). Most of all I am looking forward to a female character, the new elf (Jackson’s creation), Tauriel.

What do you guys think? Are you excited, cautiously optimistic, or dreading the new movie?

Until next time,

About Lynne

I am currently a PhD student of Forensic Psychology, which may explain the off mix of extremely morbid books sitting next to children’s books. Hailing from the Midwest in the United States of America, I have now lived in England for over 2 years (which will explain any strange grammar usage). From a very young age, my parents cultivated a love of reading, and never restricted what I read. When I reached middle school I began reading Shakespeare (a lifelong love affair), but had also discovered the wonders of young adult fiction. While the world may now expect me to read books more reflective of my age, I have fought this and am a strong supporter of the YA novel! Despite having very little free time, I still sets aside time for a reading every evening, and listens to books on my way to University. I dream of one day being a published novelist and published scientist!
