Random News: Smaug and the Geography Club

Hello Lovely Readers,

I thought we should end a fun week with some fun news from some movies based on books. The first has to be one of the funniest things I have run across in a long time. It is an article with some of the first behind the scene shots of Benedict Cumberbatch action capturing his performance as Smaug. I knew that he supposedly had done this based on comments Ian McKellan had made, say how well Benedict did. Check out the article here, and enjoy my favorite photo below (not his most attractive moment, but some of the best acting).

Shockingly to me, I just ran across the trailer for The Geography Club, based on the book by Brent Hartinger. I loved the book when I read it when I was younger, and it was one of the first LGBT books I read. I still remember parts of it to this day even though I have not  re-read the book yet.The book follows a group of high school students who feel like outsiders, because of their sexuality, as they form a safe space to be theemselves. The movie looks good, check out the trailer below.

Until next time,

About Lynne

I am currently a PhD student of Forensic Psychology, which may explain the off mix of extremely morbid books sitting next to children’s books. Hailing from the Midwest in the United States of America, I have now lived in England for over 2 years (which will explain any strange grammar usage). From a very young age, my parents cultivated a love of reading, and never restricted what I read. When I reached middle school I began reading Shakespeare (a lifelong love affair), but had also discovered the wonders of young adult fiction. While the world may now expect me to read books more reflective of my age, I have fought this and am a strong supporter of the YA novel! Despite having very little free time, I still sets aside time for a reading every evening, and listens to books on my way to University. I dream of one day being a published novelist and published scientist!
