“It turned out M.C. didn’t really do Christmas the way An-An’s family did, with presents and cookies. Instead, there was a lot more mayhem and death.”
From Ad Meliora in A Touch of Mistletoe edited by Megan Derr Final Verdict: A great collection of winter holiday themed stories that make for a fun way to take a break no matter the time of year.
“The rest of us had to make our own destiny. Lena and I knew that better than anyone. Ridley and Link, they still had to learn it the hard way. I guess that’s sort of where this whole story begins.”
Ethan from Dangerous Dream by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Final Verdict: Not bad, but not nearly enough to tempt me back to this series.
“Always he was second or third choice. Just once he wanted to be someone’s first choice. He wanted to be offered, accepted, with pride. Not from obligation or with resignation. He wanted to be a preference, not simply the least disappointing of limited options.”
Kristof from With Pride by Megan Derr
Final Verdict: A great quick read, with an amazing new world, characters that will engage you, and a romance you can root for.
So you know, Frances and I went and saw The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie recently. Afterwards, when we were discussing what we thought of the movie we kept coming back to some of the things from the book that had not been said in our review. Namely we discussed one of the major plot points/twists that happens near the end of the book. Since we decided to start adding secret content to the site, places where we discus the whole plot of things including spoilers, we knew we had to do one for this book. Normally we have very similar opinions on books and movies, however, we did have different opinions about this major plot point. So if you are curious about our thoughts, and have either read the book already or are ok with spoilers click through here to see this hidden post. There is also a link on the book review page.
Notable Stars: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Kevin Zegers, Jemim West, Robert Sheehan, Jonathon Rhys Meyers
“You have an incredible gift and we need you…I need you” Jace Wayland in City of Bones
Final Verdict: Unless you want to turn watching the movie into a drinking game, or just like making fun of bad movies, avoid this movie, especially if you want to read the book series without spoilers!

**Additionally, at the bottom of the review, there is a link to a hidden page where we discuss our thoughts about the ending for those of you who have already seen the movie and aren’t concerned about spoilers**
“If you read this book, you will be part of this world and the monsters will come after you too. You will start to see things that no other humans can see. The shadows will move when you walk near them. The creatures of the night will seek you out, testing the doors and windows of your house, looking for a way in.”
Jack Templar: Monster Hunter- Book 1 by Jeff Gunhus
Final Verdict: An interesting book for a young reluctant reader, but for the more avid reader there are better books out there.

“The boy never cried again, and he never forgot what he’d learned: that to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed.”
Jace Wayland, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Final Verdict: An imaginative plot with twists and turns that keep the reader on his/her toes. Not without faults, but I would definitely recommend to those who are a fan of young adult fantasy fiction.
